About Pearlcrest Hospitality Training Institute


Pearlcrest Hospitality Training Institute (PHTI) is a project of Kyoga Foundation Ltd, a not-for-profit local NGO, which promotes social welfare in Uganda. Pearlcrest offers Professional Courses in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry to young women at the technical and supervisory levels. The Institute provides educational services at subsidized costs to enable more women to acquire lifelong professional skills in Catering and Hospitality empowering them to exit poverty for good.
Our mission is to offer young women, an opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of their families, by giving them high-quality training in Catering and Hospitality Management and equipping them with social skills. The training aims at developing the students into women of integrity, who possess the relevant quality skills demanded by the Hospitality and Catering sector in Uganda.
Pearlcrest began in November 2003 in response to Uganda’s quest for rural transformation. Pearlcrest intends to do this by helping the Hospitality and Catering Industry become a dynamic motor within the Private Sector. Pearlcrest comes from the two words “Pearl” and “Crest.” “Pearl”, adopted from “Uganda, the Pearl of Africa meaning Precious and of great beauty. “Crest” means the summit or the highest. “Pearlcrest” symbolises our aim to be a premier Catering and Hospitality Training Institute in Uganda.
